Previously Owned has a new HOME!

I Started this blog, where I featured art, music, vintage shopping, photography and design inspiration, in 2008. But, as the years went by, my focus shifted onto different things. I had a new mindset, new friends, new space... I wanted to have a blog that was more than pretty pictures & vintage obssesions. I needed a personal journal to bookmark my findings, track this new health venture I've been raving about and share my current inspirations... CLUSSSTER is born!

Health Venture? You've already been down this road before. Remember when I got really really sick last year and the doctors couldn't even come up with a real reason as to why I felt so bad? After being sick at least once every two months in that same year, I made a drastic change in my lifestyle. I was interested in knowing why I was sick and how to fix it. This journey made me look at myself in a whole different way and I am never looking back. Currently [oficially yay!] enrolled at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, I am becoming even more obssesed with discovering all the ways that food can heal. Using myself as an example for optimal health.

Clussster was an idea of gathering everything I wanted to save up for myself and share it. My virtual bookmarker for your viewing pleasure. I thought I'd be able to manage two blogs and have them be about two different things. But, the reality is, one I am passionate about a specific thing it's really hard to keep up with another. Case in point, Previously Owned has a new home and I will try to redirect everyone over here for a couple of weeks until everything falls into place again. Meanwhile, update your subscriptions to Clussster.

Another reason for this change? I don't know if I'd ever said this before but throughout the years I've had different companies approach me with big bucks to buy my domain. From vintage shops to 'ebay' type sites. Previously Owned was so dear to me I always said no. As I was editing Clussster, I kept thinking... "Maybe it's that time to just have something new". And so it is. There is a bid going on for my domain and by the next month, it'll belong to someone else. In all honesty, I need all the money I can get to pay for INN, so I am actually relieved that I'll be selling it to help me further my studies.

I hope you all enjoy this sudden change. Clussster comes with new features and all! I'll be focusing a lot more on featuring creatives all around. They'll be sharing with us how they get to inspired to create. Like an endless exchange of ideas... Can't wait to unvail all these collaborations that will be popping up!

Guess who's scheduled posts didn't get published on Friday, Saturday or Monday? #thislady I am becoming a bit frustrated with this blogger thing. Maybe it's time to switch back to wordpress for a while... Maybe not. Oh well. I'll be pushing them out between today and tomorrow.

On other news, this photo of Brigitte Bardot just made my day. It's simply perfect. And to keep up with my music monday posts [yes, this is a music monday post on a tuesday] Florence + The Machine for Nowness. Hope you have a great week! I have some awesome posts in store. Hint: Giveaway time!

COLOR || SHAPE

Shape becomes color in this poster by Studio Worldwide. It's quite stunning how a play on shapes creating different shades of color can be so intriguing. My endless obsession with aqua and it's variants make me love this poster even more.... It's a definite bookmark for inspiration!

PLATTERS N' SPLATTERS || LENTIL SOUP & SWEET POTATO FRIES

I've been cooking every day. It's less of a hassle when I can just bring food to work without worrying about where to go for lunch. But sometimes, my meals look a bit like this. Muted and simple but with tons of flavor. I made lentil soup on Sunday so I could take some Monday. For this being my first time cooking up some lentil soup, it came out real good. I added red potatoes, shredded (shredded?) carrots, red onions, minced garlic and a gallilion herbs and seasonings. After sitting down to eat was when I realized, sweet potato fries are the worst idea ever to take to work. So, I decided to eat them all. [I know, how horrible] but, they were special and curried and I am addicted.

I also made some 'cold brewed tea' with pomegranate juice and let's just say, the whole gallon disappeared in a day. Next on my list, 'cold brewed' green tea...

EYE ON THE KICKSTART || DESIGN YOUR OWN CHAIR

If designing your own chair isn't awesome enough, what if you could take chairs that others have made and adjust them to your liking. Depending on your body shape, the size of your current tables or any other element you can think of. SketchChair started as a Kickstarter project and is on it's way to be an open source system for all. Oh, best part is it will be free. You can actually buy their prototype chair on their site right now to help their collaborators fund this amazing idea.  I can definitely see this becoming more than just chairs. Unique designs for your home? I'm IN.

BLOG MAKEOVER || WILL OF THE WOOL

My latest blog makeover was more like a spruce-up. Jennifer from The Will of the Wool wanted a new header and colorful details to match. After a bit of email-pong we agreed that chevron and triangles were a good fit. She loves minimal mixed with geometric styles, so this was very fun to play around with. Visit her blog for awesome inspiration posts!

On another note, if you're reading this from your e-reader... come on over! I also wanted a spruce-up on my blog and there ya have it! When February comes, I want to feature my sponsors as much as I can, so I added a second sidebar for them. I also went a little crazy with an 'in your face' header. [Sidenote: I want to marry that font] Please let me know what you think! I'm still on edge about it. So much that I literally spent an hour and a half just playing with the width of it. Do you guys get blog design ocd too?

PLATTERS N' SPLATTERS || UDON NOODLES /w ROASTED VEGGIES

I've been on a 'cooking roll'. After watching this video I became fascinated on how to help myself into better health by cooking vegetables ahead of time. Best way to remove "I'm so tired and hungry I'll order something" out of my usual phrases. I took about half an hour cleaning and cutting about 3 bags worth of vegetables and made enough roasted/boiled meals for the week. Perfectly stored in my fridge waiting to be eaten. I actually took the vegetable stock left in the pot and made some lentil soup! How's THAT for productivity? Oh, and yes, the meal above? DE-lish!

STUCK || USTUCK [NEW YEAR INTENTIONS]

There are many things I can criticize about new years festivities. I can maybe even get mad that the goals I had set up for the end of 2011 weren't even half completed. It's hard to look back but there is something so refreshing about a new year as well. It's a new slate. Well, in my mind it is.

I've been reading Gabrielle Bernstein's 'Add More ~Ing to Your Life' and as you all remember [or not] I really do believe in the power of change through constant reminders. Of removing whatever is you feel that is taking away some of that happiness in your life. Last year, I dealt with some hardcore issues involving quitting my job on a whim, being incredibly unhealthy and lots of what I call 'family stress'. This book is helping me channel whatever it is that is left lingering, any past feelings of guilt, powerlessness and emotional blockage so I can overcome them and begin this path of finding happiness. Oh, and don't get me wrong. I'm not moping around or sad. In fact, I feel pretty happy already. But, I found that the key to keeping in check with whatever my goals are, is to constantly work towards them. Which is why I think making resolutions don't work.

Resolutions are one of those things I whisper to myself the day after new years and by March I already forgot about them. Last year, I made some resolutions. I must admit, I hardly looked back all year to even try to make them happen. But, I have a new job I love, I got a new apartment and have been very blessed that slowly but surely I made way for positive people. Less of the negative. All that without even remembering what my resolutions were!

2011 Resolutions:
-sew more
-get healthy
-work twice as hard
-take more photographs
-save tons of money to travel
-bake
-paint and silk screen again!
-drink less booze
-get rid of the negative people

Four out of nine is a complete failure in my book. But, what have I been doing wrong? Everything. Once I looked back at these [today] I noticed I barely jotted down some real resolutions. Bake? How about turning on the stove and buying some flour. Easy as that. Now looking back I would have erased all of them, except for getting healthy. Resolutions or intentions, as I now call them, are all about change. But in my case, it's a chain of issues. If one doesn't get fixed, the other won't work properly. Now, if I had taken the time to ask myself what is it that I really wanted to do with my 2011 year I would have things so differently. But, I decided to erase that. New year, new intentions.

2012 Intentions:
-Work hard at my job so I can save money for future plans.
-Forgive and let go of all the negative people.
-Learn how to improve my health by getting proper treatment for my conditions.
-Prioritize and make room for well being.
-Make way for all the positive and be able to give back.

These are the intentions I will constantly remind myself that I can make happen. Because one intention, will lead to the other. Perception is Projection. To an UNSTUCK year! What were your intentions for this year? Do you make resolutions? How does that work out for ya? If you're on the 'make change' bandwagon and want to get unstuck, I highly suggest reading these Top 12 Happiness tips for 2012 by Gabrielle Bernstein
